Waseem Akhtar, 24, was on his new motorbike when he collided with a cyclist before crashing into the back of a parked van on the A12 in Romford.
Officers were called at 2.40pm to a stretch of the eastbound A12 just before Barley Lane, to a report of a road traffic collision involving a motorcyclist and a cyclist.
Waseem Akhtar suffered catastrophic injuries and died at the scene at 2.40pm last Wednesday. The cyclist, a man in his 40s, was taken to an east London hospital. His condition is now being described as stable.
His friends and family member poured tribute to him on social media. one of his cousin wrote
R.i.P my brother Waseem can’t believe u left us so soon jus The other day we was talk about going on a holiday inshallah Special place for you in paradise see u real soon 😞🙁😟
His Childhood friend who was going to be his life partner wrote:
He was my true childhood sweetheart. He was only 24, he had his whole life to live and I was going to be part of that. I am absolutely heartbroken.
