TV anchor Mureed Abbas Khar shot dead by friend on Business Dispute in Karachi

A TV journalist was shot dead by his business partner over a dispute in the Sindh capital, police said on Tuesday.

Mureed Abbas Khar was an anchorperson in Bol News TV. His friend, identified as Khizer, was also gunned down by the 27-year-old gunman, Atif Zaman in Karachi’s Defence area.

SSP South said the killings appeared to be a result of personal enmity.

Abbas’ family said Atif Zaman had lent Rs500,000 from the deceased for tyre business.

Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) Executive Director Seemin Jamali confirmed that Abbas had been brought dead to the hospital.

She said that the anchorperson sustained multiple bullet wounds on his chest and abdomen.

Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kaleem Imam took notice of the incident and constituted a team to arrest the killers.

The gunman also killed himself after shooting down the duo. Police officials told media that the prime suspect of Mureed Abbas Khar and Khizer’s murder case is Atif Zaman who gunned down both persons after calling them at his office in Khayaban-e-Bukhari neighbourhood of Karachi’s DHA area today.

“The alleged killer has shot himself when a police team arrives in at his residence situated at Khayaban-e-Nishat neighbourhood in DHA area,” officials said.

Zaara Abbas Khar, the wife of slain Mureed Abbas Khar, told media alleged that her husband was murdered by a tyre businessman Atif Zaman, who is refusing to return the money which he acquired for corporate investment.
