18-year-old Zeenat Rafiq who married the boy of her choice was burnt to death allegedly by her mother in Lahore on Wednesday.

Mother of Zeenat Bibi named Perveen Bibi killed her daughter after dousing her daughter with kerosene and burning her alive around 9:00 am on Wednesday.

Zeenat had married a boy named Hasan Khan on May 29, 2016. Both Zeenat and her husband Hasan Khan were class fellows and loved each other from childhood. Despite many proposals from Hasan and his family, Zeenat’s family refused to marry their daughter with Pathan Fmaily. Finally couple eloped last week and married in family court.

After 4 days following the marriage, Zeenat’s family contacted couple and told Zeenat that she had forgiven her. Parveen took her daughter back home, assuring that she wants to arrange a proper marriage function for her.

Zeenat was unwilling to go back to her home and told me that she would be killed by her family, but later agreed when one of her uncles guaranteed her safety.

The victim’s sister Shazia said she bring shame to our family by eloping with a guy. She tried to convenience her family to break ties with Zeenat instead of killing her.

Police had arrested Perveen BB shortly after the body of her daughter was discovered and confessed to the killing, Saying “she bring shame to our family and i have no regrets on burning her.”
