Samia Chaudhry, who hailed from Sahiwal came to Lahore to attend a wedding. She was wife of a Federal Bureau of Revenue employee Asif Mehmood and mother of three children.

Samia was a worker of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and lived in Islamabad. On November 20, she left for Shorkot in a car along with several PML-N workers to attend a political rally. Afterwards she came to Lahore, She stayed at room number 26 on November 22 at the Chamba House, which was booked in the name of MNA Chaudhry Ashraf but the MNA who also belong to Sahiwal. She was found dead in the room and was bleeding from nose and foam coming out of her mouth at the time she was found dead.

Rooms of Chamba House are only booked for parliamentarians or these are booked on lawmakers. Samia’s car no LXJ-810 is also registered in the name of M Ashraf. The husband Asif Mehmood said his wife was a relative of Harappa MNA Chaudhry Ashraf. Samia’s husband, Asif Mehmood, took custody of the body and left for Islamabad. Her husband has filed report against unknown criminals in Police Station Race Course.

MNA Chaudhry Ashraf said Samia was resident of his constituency, but was not his relative. He said that she wanted to become a parliamentarian on a reserved seat. MNA Chaudhry Ashraf further said that since Samia was a drug addict, there is a possibility that she might have suffered a fatal heart attack.

The initial post-mortem report reveals no apparent signs of murder were found. Forensic report to ascertain the cause of Samia’s death is still being awaited, and the police say that until then they were not able to comment on the matter.

Police have widened the scope of Samia Chaudhry’s murder case by including her husband and other relatives as part of the investigation. Police have also received her mobile phone data. Police have also taken eight employees of the Chamba House into custody.
