Abdul Waheed, who is custodian of Darbar Ali Muhammad Gujjar shrine is resident of Lahore and a government employee as well, he used a knife and thick stick to kill his victims. He has worked for Election Commission in Sargodha according to Election Commission of Pakistan, Abdul Waheed retired from service a year ago.

Incident came in to light when 4 people who manged to escape from darbar informed police and a heavy contingent of police rushed to the shrine and arrested Abdul Waheed and his four alleged accomplices. 16 men’s and 4 women’s dead body were recovered from darbar.

It is said that Pir Abdul Waheed was allegedly in the practice of “beating and torturing” devotees to “cleanse” them.

But later Abdul Waheed revealed that, these people have poisoned his spiritual leader, Ali Muhammad Gujjar to death two years ago. If he had not killed them, they would have poisoned him too.

Custodian of Darbar Pir Abdul Waheed called his devotees one by one in room and offered them intoxicating substance and then removed their clothes and stabbed them to death.

Six of the deceased belonged to the same family.

According to people Abdul Waheed would go to the shrine once or twice a month and torture people during his visit after which he would take their clothes off and burn them.

The suspect appears to be paranoid and psychotic, or it could be related to rivalry for the control of shrine,” he said, adding that the investigation was continuing.
