Dani Khan, 19, from Middlesborough, had been swimming with four friends at Wain Wath Water Falls on the River Swale, near Keld in the Yorkshire Dales and died after diving off a cliff in to water pool at a Yorkshire beauty spot.

His friends desperately tried to keep him above the water level but could not keep a hold of him. He remained underwater for 15 minutes before being pulled out. Rescue teams were called who arrived at the scene at the Wain Wath waterfall, after 5 minutes, and airlifeted Dani Khan to James Cook Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His friend Ayaz Ali, 18, told media that Dani Khan was recently got married to Sonia Hussain who is pregnant and due to have a baby with his partner.

Wain Wath waterfall is a popular location for day-trippers and listed in the top ten of UK spots for wild swimming, where water flows over a 10ft cliff into a plunge pool below.

North Yorkshire Police told media that death was not being treated as suspicious and an inquest will be held.
