Mohammed Kayani resident of Smith Street, Heaton, Bradford a drug dealer jailed for more than 5 years had brought shame and despair on his family by his “grim and insatiable need for cocaine”.
He was imprisoned for seven years, minus 20 per cent credit for his guilty plea, for possession of heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply on November 16 last year after police spotted him drug dealing from a silver Toyota Yaris in Church Street, Manningham, at 6.30pm. He tried to ran off but police smashed the windscreen of his vehicle and arrested him.
Police recovered 17 wraps of heroin and 11 of crack cocaine from his car. He told police he was selling drugs as he is in debt as he had amassed through his cocaine use and also to pay for repairs to a vehicle he had damaged in an accident.
He got addicted to drugs at 18 and five years later at the age of 23 he is facing a 7 years sentenced.
Although Mohammed Kayani had a good side, supporting his family and helping to care for a disabled neighbour. But jailing him for five years and eight months, Judge Thomas said: “This city sees far too much of the misuse of Class A drugs.
