Secretary of the Traders Union General Shoukat Mehmood Choudhry said in an interview that the people of Mirpur had been promised that they would be provided free electricity after the completion of Mangla Dam.

Clean drinking water, proper sewerage, good roads, high quality educational institutes, playgrounds and parks were amongst the many promises that were made at the time of Mangla Dam’s construction.

He said that no such promises had been fulfilled. There is unprecedented load shedding, shortage of water and poor sanitation.
