A son who murdered his father by stabbing him and attacking him with a hammer 80 times at their Derby home has been jailed for life.
31-year-old Daniel Seggie, resident of Marylebone Crescent, Mackworth, Derby, murdered his father by stabbing him with a knife and attacking him with a hammer 80 times at their Derby home has been jailed for life.
Daniel Seggie, 31 attacked his father, 59-year-old Geoff Seggie, at the house they shared in Marylebone Crescent, Mackworth, in November last year.
After killing him he drove his father’s black Honda Civic to Cardiff where he dumped it in a hotel car park. He then withdrew money from his father’s account before leading the police on a chase across three countries. Then caught a train to Scotland where he was finally traced and arrested days after he killed his father.
He was found guilty of killing his own father, at received life sentence at Nottingham Crown Court. Daniel Seggie was told by a judge it would be at least 20 years before he is eligible for parole after sentencing the 31-year-old to a whole life term.
