Evha Jannath, 11, was on a school trip when she was thrown out of the Splash Canyon ride at the attraction in Tamworth, Staffordshire, and died after falling from a river rapids ride into the choppy 5ft-deep water, in front of her horrified pals, last Tuesday.

Theme park staff dragged her from the water and she was airlifted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
But despite doctors’ efforts to save her, Evha, from Leicester, was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at hospital.

The Year 6 pupil went on the trip with other schoolmates from the Jameah Girls Academy in Leicester. Friends have revealed she had been off sick for a few days and arrived at school wearing the wrong clothes for the trip.

Splash Canyon ride is a water rapids-style ride where guests sit in a boat and are sent down a choppy “river”.

Drayton Manor Park remained close for 4 days after tragedy. The Health and Safety Executive and police have since been carrying out an investigation into the tragedy, while the park has remained closed as a mark of respect for the family. It is thought the Health and Safety Executive will now recommend using lifejackets on water rides.

The grieving father Muhammed Suable Islam, 47, who is of Bangladeshi origin, lives in St Albans, Hertfordshire. He moved here with his daughter, Evha, and her teenage brother about three years ago with his wife.
