Asmat Junejo, 26, went to a government hospital located in Korangi for the treatment of toothache. But she was drugged, assaulted by staff and later killed after she was injected with poison at hospital.
Few hours after she left for doctor, her family received a call from a person at the hospital – who identified himself at Shahzaib, stating that the 26-year-old was in critical condition and they should soon come to the hospital to get her.
Asmat’s body was then taken from Sindh Government Hospital to Jinnah Hospital where she was declared dead. An autopsy report stated that they were no injuries on her body, however, it stated that Asmat had been subjected to assault after she was administered with a poisonous injection.
Her family filed an FIR against the hospital for negligence and Shahzaib, including two other men, Aamir and Wali, have been arrested. Ghulam Muhammad the brother of Asmat Junejo had given the name of Shahzeb and doctor on duty as suspects, Awami Colony Police stated.
The duty officer Dr. Ayaz is still at large but the police expect to catch him soon.
