2 Friends from New Laddar village of Chechian Mirpur went to Upper Jhelum Canal to beat the heat of summer but could not surface and drowned.

According to details two friends Bilal Tariq and Fareed Rafique residents of New Laddar village of Chechian District Mirpur went to Jhelum Upper Canal at PULL DAB area to take bath and spend time in cold water with their other friend.

Both Bilal Tariq and Fareed Rafique drowned in water and could not surface. There dead bodies still missing in canal. A large number of people gathered at canal, Rescue teams along with their divers arrived and start searching for dead bodies of two young boys aged 18 and 20, but were unable to find them.

Rescue work was stopped due to dark and today again rescue work was started but still dead bodies were not found. Relatives and family members of both boys protested against local administration and demanded to stop the water in canal to find the dead bodies.

Political candidates of Khari, including Ch Rukhsar, Ch Arshad, Ch Naveed Goga, Ch Javaid Qadri and many others also arrived on spot and showed their sympathies and condolence with deceaseds’ families.
