Mirpur (6thSeptember2014- Bureau Report) The water levels increased by 15 feet in 3 days in Mangla Dam and the District Administration was unaware of the situation.
The District Administration was unaware of the rapid increase in water levels in Mangla Dam. No Precautionary Warning was given to the Millions of people settled around the dam, the affected people have done severe protests against the District Administration and the Prime Minister.
Sudden increase in water levels resulted in water entering Khanpur, Bajar, ChakSawari and various others villages, as a resulted thousand of families were forced to evacuate the land. The Administrative Emergency Cell was unaware of the situation. Due to sudden Emergency Evacuation the affected families suffered a loss of millions of Rupees.The former Councilor Khanpur Ch Abdul Qayyum, Ch Haji Abdul Rasheed, Haji Nazeer, Ch Sabir, Ch Riasat, Ch Mohammad, Ch Qurban, Ch Khalil Contractor, Ch Anwar, Ch Miskeen, Ch Arif, Ch Mohsin Dildar, Ch Nasir, Haji Meharban, Sajjad Ch and others said that the in the floods faced in Occupied Kashmir, Their Chief Minister practically participated in the on-going relief works, whereas the Prime Minister Azad Kashmir did not even bother to consult his Administrative Officers about at least warning the people living around Mangla Dam about Flood. A catastrophe has fallen over the people living on the banks of Mangla Dam but the Monitoring Cell established by the District Administration remain unaware of the situation.
The Affected people demanded that the Prime Minister Azad Kashmir should take immediate notice of the incompetence of the District Administration and Mangla Dam Authorities, otherwise they would be forced to protest against the Prime Minister.
