Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved the verdict on the petitions filed by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law retired Captain Mohammad Safdar against the sentences awarded to them in the Avenfield properties reference.
The decision on petitions filed by Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Captain (r) Safdar would be announced at 3 PM today,’ announced the court.
Shahbaz Sharif along with party leader ship is outside court, if Nawaz Sharif sentence is suspended, then Nawaz, Maryam, Safdar will be brought back from Jail into public.
Two-member bench comprising Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Athar Minallah is hearing case, bench decided that the court would pass an order on the petitions even if the NAB prosecution failed to conclude the arguments.
NAB Special prosecutor Mohammad Akram Qureshi concluded the bureau’s final argument today, court had imposed a fine of Rs10,000 on NAB for delaying the matter and adjourned the hearing till Sept 10.
The petitions were filed by the Sharif family against their conviction in the Avenfield reference
Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was sentenced to 10 years in jail, his daughter Maryam was sentenced to seven years while son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar was sentenced to one year in prison.
