Saudi Crown Prince Stops PM Imran to Travel on Commercial Flight, Offered Special Aircraft

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday left for the US to attend the 74th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) from Saudi Arabia, the Foreign Office said here.

Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman offered PM Imran Khan his special aircraft, on a week-long visit to attend the UN General Assembly session and be part of a host of other activities, including a meeting President Donald Trump.

PM Khan was asked by MBS as to how he will be travelling to New York on which, PM answered that he will be taking a commercial flight.

Expressing concern, MBS refused to let Imran Khan take the commercial flight and said that you are our friend and our guest, we can’t let you go like this. MBS offered his own private jet to PM Khan with full protocol and asked him to use his plane during his US visit.

According to reports, MBS not only stopped Prime Minister Imran from going to the US on a commercial aircraft, he also arranged a special plane for the First Lady, Bushra Bibi, to return to Pakistan.

During his week-long visit to the US, Khan will hold several bilateral meetings with his counterparts from various countries and participate in high-level UN summits on climate change, sustainable development, universal health coverage and financing for development.

The prime minister will address the General Assembly on Friday, September 27, and share Pakistan’s perspective and position on the Kashmir dispute and its current human rights and related dimensions.
