Mohammed Khan, 23, from Smethwick, West Midlands, who assaulted his partner and forced her to watch Islamic videos to ‘become a better girlfriend’ has been jailed for 12 years.
They became a couple in 2016 and just days after becoming partner, Khan subjected his 21-year-old victim to regular beatings and assault attacks over an 18-month period, launching into a violent rage.
He pinned her by the throat against a wardrobe and chipped several of her teeth after punching her in the face as they sat in his car.
He forced her to watch Islamic videos in order to make her obedient partner. He teach her, she couldn’t say “no” to him; he warned that if she did he’d go elsewhere for his gratification.
Victim completely changed her behaviour in order to please Khan; she missed exams, lied about her injuries and stopped wearing make-up.
‘Fortunately family members spotted these signs and reported it to the police. Last April she plucked up the courage to submit a formal police complaint against Khan and he was arrested.
Following a trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court Khan was found guilty of assault and two counts of coercive control. He was jailed for 12 years at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
