13 years old boy Ismail Mohamed Abdulwahab, from Brixton, south London, died at Kings College Hospital yesterday morning after being put into an induced coma.
Ismail Mohamed Abdulwahab with no apparent underlying health conditions, became ill on Friday and was put on a ventilator after having difficulties breathing, he died in hospital in the early hours of Monday, a day after he was admitted to King’s College hospital, his family said.
Ismail’s family, from Brixton, south London, said in a statement released through a friend that they were “beyond devastated”, adding: “To our knowledge he had no underlying health conditions.”
“It is with great sadness to announce that the younger brother of one of our teachers has sadly passed away this morning due to being infected,” said Madinah College London.
He is believed to be the youngest victim to have died in the UK. A spokesperson for the family has said on a fundraising page
The college has set up a crowdfunding page to raise £4,000 for funeral costs. It had received more than £36,867 in donations by 9.30pm on Tuesday.
‘He was only 13 years old without any pre-existing health conditions and sadly he died without any family members close present with him.
The boy’s family, who also recently lost his father to cancer, said they would not be releasing any photos of Ismail and that they were ‘beyond devastated’.
Ismail who is thought to be the youngest victim, his death comes just after a 14 years old boy Vitor Godinho from Portugal who became Europe’s youngest victim of has said he has been left ‘devastated’ by the loss of his son.

Ismail’s death has been referred to the coroner and no further comment will be made. May Allah grant the family patience through this difficult time and make it a means of drawing closer to Him.”
