A Blackburn teenager who assaulted a six-year-old girl and later made her ‘pinkie promise’ that she wouldn’t tell anyone about what happened, is jailed.
Ibrahim Javid, now 20, of Whalley New Road, Blackburn, attacked his victim in Blackburn. Details about what had gone on were revealed after police became involved with the matter in April 2017.
It was heard in court that the attack took place in 2017 when Javid had just turned 18. He later made the victim ‘pinkie promise’ that she would not tell anyone about what happened.
Officers interviewed the victim, who told them in detail about what she had been made to do by Javid. After describing the incident, she told police that she had been made to ‘pinkie promise’ that she wouldn’t tell anyone about what had happened.
When Javid was interviewed by officers, he denied the offence, saying he would never do such a thing. He continued to maintain his innocence until a trial began in February.
He eventually pleaded on the second day of the trial, on the same day his victim was due to give evidence.
Court was told, Javid is a young man with learning difficulties and problems with his speech and there was abuse in his childhood that he both experienced and witnessed. His mother died and he was rejected by his father.
He was found guilty and was jailed for 6 years at Preston Crown Court.
