A meeting of the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee is underway in Karachi for sighting the moon of Shawwal, which marks the beginning of Eidul Fitr.
The meeting is being chaired by Mufti Muneebur Rehman, who will make an announcement regarding the sighting of the crescent. The Pakistan Meteorological Department experts are also a part of the session.
Earlier in the day, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry had said that Eidul Fitr will be celebrated in the country tomorrow (Sunday), according to calculations made by his ministry.
It should be noted that the Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry in a press conference criticized the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee and said that the meeting of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has always been a source of controversy.
In the next few years people will be able to celebrate Eid on the moon, the progress of science has made the process of seeing the moon easier.

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Pir Noor-ul-Haq Qadri has come forward with his statement regarding the sighting of moon for the Eid-ul-Fitr.
Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Pir Noor-ul-Haq Qadri said that the Shariah decision of Eid would be taken by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Karachi today according to which Eid will be celebrated.
Pir Noor-ul-Haq Qadri further said that Shariat and religion rely on the sight and the evidence of the moon and the Eid will be decided by the scholars.
