Chief Justice Orders to Arrest DIG Police for Posting Immoral Pics of Ex-Wife on FB

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nasir on Saturday ordered the immediate arrest of the Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Junaid Arshad.

Ayesha Subhani, the ex-wife of the DIG registered an FIR with the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cybercrime wing in June and accused her former husband of blackmailing her with the assistance of his friend, Danish Ghani, by uploading objectionable pictures of her on social media.

DIG crime branch Syed Junaid Arshad was reportedly found involved in this activity during the investigation, the Establishment Division has written to the chief executive of the GB, directing him to suspend the officer following the charges of publishing ex-wife’s objectionable pictures on Facebook.

Chief justice, irked by the matter, remarked: “Do police officers consider themselves above the law?”

He ordered police to arrest the DIG and present a report before the court by Sunday. He also issued directives for DIG Arshad’s name to be placed on the exit control list (ECL).

The officials following the complaint conducted a raid

to arrest Arshad, but he had already obtained a pre-arrest bail.

The woman petitioner complained that her former husband posted her photos on the social media.
