A young boy has died from a ‘broken heart’ weeks after learning his father had been killed in an Islamic State attack.
Four-year-old Bryar had become emotionally depressed when he was told his father, Jalal Masoyi, would not be returning home.
Jalal, a Kurdish Peshmerga fighter, was killed last month in Lukajo, Iraq, according to Kurdistan 24 .
A family member told the local media: “Bryar had a very close relationship with his father. He kept saying that he misses his father and was asking why he was not coming home.”
He begin ‘avoiding eating food’ until they noticed him foaming at the mouth while sleeping.
Little boy was rushed to hospital where he received checkup and treatment for days, unfortunately, he died from a stroke on Sunday and would be buried next to his father in the city’s Saywan cemetary.
The boy’s tragic story has quickly dominated local social media platforms, with thousands of people sending their condolences to the family.
It is reported that the local administration of Garmian decided to name a school in the area after Bryar.
Iraq declared military victory over the Islamic State in 2017, but according to Kurdistan 24, officials warn of a resurgence after the group carries out attacks, ambushes and kidnapping in the country.
