The survival of at least three people is confirmed until now after PIA flight PK-8303 crashed in a populated area of Madina Colony in Malir, around four kilometers away from the airport. The incident reportedly occurred due to technical fault in the landing gear of the ill-fated plane.

One passenger jumped off the plan while two passengers who were seated on front seats survived. According to eye witnesses when the plane crashed it fell from its tail side and its front was upwards, because of which fire could not reach on its front side.

Bank of Punjab Chief Executive Officer Zafar Masud and another passenger miraculously survived with relatively minor injuries, after a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane crashed on Friday in a residential area near the metropolis’ Jinnah International Airport.

Masud was among the 98 persons travelling in Karachi-bound PIA flight PK-8303 from Lahore, which crashed in the Jinnah Garden area near Model Colony in Malir almost a minute before landing.

It is still too early to say if there are more survivors from the tragedy, by Masud’s story has offered a glimmer of hope to rescue teams racing to save as many souls as they can.

The BOP president was shifted

to the Darul Sehat Hospital after being recovered from the crash site and is reportedly out of danger. He has spoke to his mother on the phone and informed her about his health.

Masud has sustained fractures to his hip and collar bones, the Darul Sehat Hospital’s administration said, adding that there were no burn marks on his body, only scratches. Masud’s brother is with him in the hospital.

Khalid Sherdil is the CEO of the Urban Unit – a public sector company in Pakistan. In the past, Sherdil has also served as Director-General Punjab Disaster Management Authority.

A young man, named Ammar Rashid – seat no 20F, has also survived the crash. His family has confirmed the news on social media.

They are being treated at Civil hospital and another in CMH Karachi.
