Firefighters in Spain say that three people have been killed and more have been injured after a fire broke out at a 10-story residential building in the northeastern Spanish region of Catalonia, emergency services said.
The blaze broke out at about 8 am GMT on 5th of January in the city of Badalona, immediately northeast of Barcelona, before spreading to several dwellings in the apartment block, firefighters and Catalan medical emergency officials said.
A 92-year-old woman who lived on the ninth floor of the building died in the fire, while the other two fatalities have not yet been identified.
2 Pakistani citizens, Zahid Ullah, 50, and Abdul Razaq, 45, died in the incident while another Pakistani citizen Tanveer Ahmed is being treated in hospital.
Ali Imran Choudary, representative of Pakistani consul general in Spain, told, Zahid Ullah belong to Lala Musa, Pakistan and Abdul Razaq belongs to Sargodha, Pakistan.
He told, dead bodies of both men will be transported to Pakistan on the expense Govt. of Pakistan.
The fire left 29 people injured, 16 were still in the hospital while 13 others have since been released.
Some residents were evacuated with the help of a ladder supplied by their neighbors while firefighters rescued others using their equipment.
